The New Goonies Movie: What We Know So Far!

If there’s one film that holds a dear place in the hearts of all us 80s kids, it’s The Goonies. We were right there alongside Mikey, Chunk, Data, Mouth and the rest of the gang as they fought the good fight for survival - and now it seems that we might get to do it all over again, as the sequel is now officially in the works!

Goonies never say die, after all, so it seems only fitting that we’d get a second instalment of the Warner Bros hit. But what details of the forthcoming flick have we got at the moment? Plot? Cast? Release date?

Thus far, details are still a little sketchy but we’ve had confirmation that Steven Spielberg will be producing, along with Chris Columbus (original Goonies writer), Holly Bario and Kirstie Macosko Krieger, while Potsy Ponciroli will be writing the script. 

And basically, that’s all we know unfortunately! No director has as yet been announced and we’ve not got any plot details - but you can bet that we’ll keep you posted as soon as we know what’s happening.
